Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ's
What are the camp hours?
The camp runs from 9:00am to 4:00pm. For an extra fee, we offer an early drop-off at 8:00am and later pick-up until 5:00pm.
What should I bring to camp?
All campers should bring a hat, sunscreen, water bottle, snacks, a lunch, bathing suit, towel and wear running shoes
Can I register for a partial week?
Unfortunately we are unable to process partial weeks as we regularly reach capacity and often have a waiting list.
How is the pool supervised?
Our pool is guarded with 2 National Lifeguard Service (NLS) lifeguards as well as at least one camp staff member on deck as the 3rd pair of eyes. We have a rope dividing the shallow end and the deep end. Any camper who wishes to cross the rope must first pass a deep end test with one of the lifeguards. The rest of the counselors are in the water and are responsible for a specified group of children. The Thorncrest Summer Camp is full of fun and excitement, but we take our water safety very seriously.
Do I need to pack a lunch?
Yes, all campers are required to bring their own lunch and snacks. We are unable to store any items in the refrigerator. Also, please remember that we are a nut-free camp.
Will my child be with his friend/sibling?
Yes, our camp is rather small in numbers compared to other camps so we operate as a single unit. We offer a variety of games for different ages but the campers are able to engage with their family and friends for the duration of the camp.
Can I also register for swimming and tennis lessons?
Yes, your child may take swim and tennis lessons while registered for camp. Our staff members are responsible for getting your child too and from their lessons. The pool and tennis courts are all on location so it’s very convenient. Swim lessons are usually 30 minutes (depending on level) between 8:00am-11am. The tennis lessons are 1 hour in length between 11am-3pm.
